La Mer is a 2015 Beneteau First 35 Carbon Edition, a rare race-bred expression of Bruce Farr’s celebrated First-series pedigree, the same design partnership behind Two True’s overall Sydney-Hobart win. Yachting Monthly praised the First 35 for combining “smouldering looks, startling pace, and cruising comfort without compromise,” while BoatAdvice called the Carbon Edition a favorably IRC-rated “pocket rocket.” Voile Magazine named her its Yacht of the Year. Resolutely seaworthy and incredibly spacious, she carries an unbeatable level of equipment and design in her class: a carbon-fiber keel-stepped mast, all-lead fin keel, retractable carbon bowsprit, and a composite multi-position tilting wheel. Her taut lines are accentuated by particularly elegant hull and roof detailing, while a huge cockpit, aft mainsheet traveller, and German System sail controls make life aboard safer and easier — and her long-draft lead keel promises outstanding performance. Below, the interior is an elegant contrast of light-colored upholstery and classic teak woodwork, elevated aboard La Mer by a custom teak-and-holly cabin sole. Two spacious double cabins and an L-shaped galley opposite the chart table open onto a salon equal in size to that of the First 40 — proof that a boat built to win regattas can still be handled with ease by a small crew or a cruising family.
